Position Title: Nurse Practitioner (NP/APRN)
Department: Pain Management, Primary Care, Urgent Care, and Ambulatory Surgery Center
Reports To: Medical Director/Administrator
Location: Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Center
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP/APRN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care across pain management, primary care, urgent care, and ambulatory surgery center settings. The NP performs comprehensive patient evaluations, develops treatment plans, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, prescribes medications, and collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care. The NP promotes positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and organizational regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
Prescribe medications, therapies, and medical equipment within the scope of practice.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests.
Evaluate patient responses to treatment and modify care plans as needed.
Provide pain management evaluations and follow-up care.
Perform office-based procedures as permitted by training and credentialing.
Provide urgent care services for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
Complete all required documentation, coding, and billing accurately.
Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities, including AAAHC standards.
Patient Education
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and preventive care.
Promote patient understanding of treatment plans and encourage adherence to prescribed therapies.
Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications and disease prevention.
Collaboration
Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, surgery center staff, and administrative personnel.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and case reviews.
Communicate effectively with referral sources, specialists, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities.
Surgery Center Responsibilities
Conduct pre-operative assessments when appropriate.
Review patient histories, medications, allergies, and diagnostic results.
Assist in ensuring patient readiness for procedures.
Participate in post-operative evaluations and discharge planning.
Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Nevada APRN License in good standing.
Current DEA Registration and Nevada Controlled Substance Registration (if applicable).
National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Current BLS Certification required.
ACLS Certification preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience preferred.
Pain management, primary care, urgent care, or surgical experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to perform clinical procedures and patient assessments.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as required by clinic operations.
Schedule may vary based on patient volume and organizational needs.
