Located in the beautiful Adirondacks, Point O’Pines Camp for Girls is looking for a Sets and Scenery lead to join our creative camp community. As the Sets and Scenery lead, you’re the creative engine behind the “look and feel” of every camp production. This role is responsible for the design and construction of sets and props. You’ll be working closely with the Theatre Director to make sure the stage matches their vision while guiding campers through the fun, hands-on process of making theatrical productions come to life. It’s a high-energy, collaborative role where you get to inspire kids to get creative, build their confidence, and help them see their hard work come to life under the lights.

Key Responsibilities:

– Sets Design and Stage Setting: Plan and execute the visual design for all camp productions, including sets, backdrops, and props for various age groups.
– Technical Instruction: Teach campers skills related to stagecraft, such as painting, building, and prop-making, through dedicated workshops.
– Creative Collaboration: Work with the Theatre Director to ensure the visual elements align with the production’s artistic vision.
– Resource Management: Manage the theatre shop and storage areas, overseeing the inventory of supplies, costumes, and tools.
– Staff Mentorship: Supervise and mentor assistant technical staff and counselors assigned to the stage crew.
– Safe Environment: Maintain a safe workspace for campers during stage set up and ensure all set pieces are safe for use during performances.
– Camp Integration: Participate in camp-wide events and assist in other program areas as needed to support overall camp operations.

Qualifications:

– Prior experience in stagecraft, set design, lighting, or costume creation, preferably in a camp or educational setting.
– Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple production timelines simultaneously.
– Enthusiasm for inspiring young people through the “behind-the-scenes” magic of theatre.
