Providence Summer Teaching Assistant

Summer Dates: July 1 – July 24, 2025

Tues, Wed, and Thurs 8:30am – 2:30 pm

Scope

The Providence Summer Assistant‘s primary duties are to support students with Down syndrome and collaborate with the Providence teacher as directed, by providing instruction to students and creating and using modified materials and strategies as appropriate.

Qualifications

The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:

  • A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
  • A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
  • Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for the Christian Academy School System
  • Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind

The ideal candidate shall provide/successfully complete the following:

  1. Previous professional experience with special needs children preferred
  2. Copy of High School diploma or transcript of highest degree earned
  3. TB test
  4. CPR & First Aid Training
  5. Criminal Records Check
  6. Child Abuse and Neglect Check (CAN)
  7. Must be 18 years of age

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

The Assistant shall:

  • Be responsible for assisting Providence Classroom Teachers
  • Care for and treat each child with dignity and respect
  • Help in preparation of necessary materials for lessons/activities
  • Assist students with self-help skills which may include toileting, lunch, snack
  • Consistently follow the schedule set forth for them by the Providence Teachers
  • Assistant will assure each child is treated with love and value and taught that God made him/her special
  • Will pray for each teacher and student daily

Outcomes

  • Ongoing assistance to Providence School Teacher
  • Continued growth for students

Reporting Relationship

The Providence Summer Teaching Assistant is responsible to the Providence Classroom Teacher for daily assignments/schedule/etc. The Providence Summer Teaching Assistant reports directly to the Providence School Director and the school Principal/Assistant Principal.
